7. Clinical Implication: Reframing Behaviour
Instead of asking:
"Why doesn't this person cooperate?"
We ask:
"What has shaped this nervous system?"
Instead of assuming resistance, we consider:
Is this hypervigilance?
Is this trauma-triggered avoidance?
Is this cognitive overload?
Is this minority stress response?
Is chronic pain amplifying irritability?
Ethical dilemmas in homelessness care are not anomalies. They are signals of structural tension between health systems and social inequality.
This reframing is not abstract theory. It directly changes how we:
Communicate
Schedule appointments
Respond to missed visits
Address relapse
De-escalate conflict
Manage chronic disease
Trauma-informed understanding becomes a practical clinical skill.
